I would of been more afraid if it was an actual killer and not some hardly creepy ghost nonsense. Like really? Hiding under that sheet just makes it worse. You have no idea whats happening outside of your sheets then. No thanks. Omar Citizen Gordon says: Mar 14, 2014 at 8:35 PM Nope, would’ve left the house after seeing that in my corridor. That was spine tingling creepy Paul Schmitt says: Mar 15, 2014 at 7:35 AM These comments remind of seeing the Blair Witch at the theater. People were so scared they had to over-react and denounce the film right after the climax/end. Good job, David Sandberg! Tyson Benally says: Mar 15, 2014 at 10:20 AM Yep, I’m not gonna finish this… Not without my curtains open and someone right beside me so I don’t feel like the only one that’s scared :/ Neil Varone says: Mar 15, 2014 at 10:35 AM I lost a little interest when she put the blanket over her head. Allan Carreon says: Mar 15, 2014 at 12:35 PM Greaf firsf 30-45 seconds, but the rest of the short couldn’t maintain it. Bad ending. Nicky Joe Thamdy says: Mar 15, 2014 at 1:05 PM So many badasses on here. The film won. Leave it at that. The director meant to capture the idea of fear that many people have thought about or wouldnt wish to even encounter. Its the idea that he wanted to portray… if that shit actually really happened… would you (being a person who tries to be logical yet fear the dark) have time to react or be frightened by the moments situation. Great work. Ryan Lea says: Mar 15, 2014 at 2:20 PM What adult would seriously do nothing but try to hide under the sheets if they heard something walking towards them down the hallway?? Carmen Montenegro says: Mar 15, 2014 at 4:20 PM Scary Elicia LaFayette says: Mar 15, 2014 at 5:20 PM The poor CG (or makeup) at the end ruins it a bit, but up until then this was excellent. Great build up of tension and pretty frightening. Unbelievably well done for something less than 3 mins. Zach Ertzberger says: Mar 15, 2014 at 5:20 PM Appropriately unnerving and creepifying. Also reinforces my habit of sleeping with a knife. Tony Smith says: Mar 15, 2014 at 5:20 PM Was absolutely bricking myself, the end ruined it… Jen Zelaski says: Mar 15, 2014 at 6:20 PM Maybe its just because im a seasoned horror movie veteran but that did nothing for me. Not scary at all. sorry David Hahn says: Mar 15, 2014 at 6:35 PM This was great! And the thing at the end was just the right amount of scary. To those who thought the thing’s face looked goofy, let me guess, you decided it looked goofy AFTER you went back and hit pause to get a longer look. If it startled you when you saw it the first time, then it worked. Alicia Prohibidado Ingersoll says: Mar 15, 2014 at 6:35 PM I agree with what’s being said about the ending. Scared shitless up until I saw what it was… now I’m just kind of meh about it. Emerson Penalba says: Mar 15, 2014 at 7:50 PM Uh okay, so it got me thrilled and screaming just a little bit until the ending destroyed it all. Congrats, Mr. Sandberg, on winning your award and ALSO making an enemy out of a very kind hearted guy here in Texas. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a season of sponge bob to watch in order to re-succumb to a reality of reasonable peace. Gabo Alburo says: Mar 16, 2014 at 4:35 AM Oooohh.. that’s what I love in the dark, I could’ve smashed that thing with the lamp! :b Kathy Stevens says: Mar 16, 2014 at 5:05 AM what a great depiction of fear! it’s all in our mind – we’re so vulnerable, and make such sad, meager attempts to hide from whatever we fear! I was more scared by this little clip of film than any slasher movie I’ve ever seen. Drew up my legs (i just knew something was going to grab me from under the couch!). Alasdair McBroom says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM Love it. Really well done. Can you imagine being a kid and watching this. Here’s one I made that’s quite similar http://youtu.be/EiKFEwI5YrI Faye Musselman says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM The fact that it evokes so much dialog regarding a frightened emotional response upon viewing it serves as testament to the film’s effectiveness and quality of content. Dan Cresswell says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM Well, that’s good. I just shat my underpants… Cathy Gerio says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM Hahahahahahaha i knew it! Irma Anda Pingol says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM More! More! Karly Rivers says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM If I saw that after turning the light off once, I would turn it back on, and lock myself in my room. There’s no “play with the light switch to see what it is”. A monster in the dark is a monster in the dark, bro. Trevor TrevoSawrus Pearce says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM Did anyone skipped and had their Sound off at first?… I did… I did the first time I watched it… But I tried the second time but not skip and had the sound on… creepy as crap…. Susan Fisher says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM I lasted 30 seconds ! Heather Dutchak says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM super spooky till the ending. scarier for me would have been if they kept the thing faceless. maybe, she looks to the doorway, the light in her room goes out, and the shadow/silhouette is now in her room near the doorway, backlit by the light in the hall. then the light in the hall goes out. then credits. imagining the ‘monster’ is spookier to me than seeing a little cgi troll. Teddy R McGee says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM Jaja that was Great! I remember I use to react the same way when ever Creature Feature use to come on and I would think that nothing could ever possibly penetrate through my blankets. It was my force field towards all monsters. Great short film Mindy Saini says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM It was alright. Wasn’t scary at all (this is what happens when you’re desensitised from watching too many films), but I did like the scene when she was flicking the lights on and off and when it was off, you’d see the creature shadowed in the dark. The ending did kill it though. Seeing the creature at the end was unneeded. Sammie Mcdonagh says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM Good 1, watched it through (even if it was behind my hands) but to say I’m a pure coward when it comes to scary movies I made it to the end, But honestly If u saw that creepy thing in your hall surely the first thing you’d do after peeing your pants is run for the hills not tape the switch on n go to bed lol :/ Rob Morley says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM Linda Blair’s better looking cousin went from scary to funny simply because she didn’t switch the final light off soon enough. Richard Watkins says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM it was quite creepy up until the i saw the face, could have made the face more creepy, with the sound of the woman screaming, the lack of a scream made it less convincing. Dominic Burchnall says: Mar 17, 2014 at 3:20 PM I don’t know what you’re all talking about. I watched the bottom inch of the screen all the way through and didn’t get scared at all. Kevin Nicholas says: Mar 18, 2014 at 2:05 PM Dominick car Jessikha Block says: Mar 18, 2014 at 2:20 PM This didn’t scare me. Mainly because it didn’t make sense that you saw the face at the end IN THE LIGHT, and you couldn’t see the ghost at all in the light before that. In addition, there wasn’t a story behind the ghost. I feel that there needs to be a haunting past in order for a video to scare me. Moreover, there was no jump scare, no scream, no lunge forward towards the camera. That is what really scares me. Paulo Claro says: Mar 18, 2014 at 2:20 PM The whole video does a great job of unsettling you but it is ruined by the face in the end looking like it was made out of play clay. Tears running down my face and nose is dripping. That really helps cause this was truly creepy and I have had real experiences like this when I was younger. Though I never SAW something like that, I FELT it. I can see why this won cause now I it is 130 am and I need to go to bed but am afraid to shut my eyes. I think I will watch some Golden Girls and try to laugh, snuggle my dog, sleep with the lights on, and if she makes even a whimper then I will pull a Poltergeist maneuver and me and her will go to a hotel downtown where it is well lit and busy ! I wasn’t really that scared by this, at all. The whole “turn off lights, see ghost, turn on, repeat like x4 times” was nearly comical, I even laughed a bit. The woman’s reactions were humorously emotional, and the face at the end looked ridiculous, not creepy. I’m not trying to pull the whole ‘tough guy’ persona here, and maybe I’d act a bit different if this happened in real life, but this wasn’t really all that scary at least portrayed this way. Not enough immersion, and was kind of predictable for a scare set-up, but I suppose you’re limited with what you could do for a short scary film.
