Today in “Eff Yes,” we’ve got a couple of new trailers — one for Iron Man 3, this time directed by Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), and a new one for Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino’s latest bloody period piece.
Iron Man Gets All Existential (AVENGERS SPOILERS AHOY)
In the aftermath of The Avengers, where Tony Stark pretty much made the heroic self-sacrifice that he made fun of previously, he barely survives and returns from New York shaken, his Stark Tower all jacked up by Loki. Of course he’ll rebuild it, but he’s an alcoholic who never had to worry about anyone other than himself.
But now he does. And his archnemesis, The Mandarin, has appeared.
Boom. Yeah, that’s Ben Kingsley. Academy Award-winning Ben Kingsley. British Ben Kingsley. As The Mandarin. Hey, I’m not complaining.
Django Unchained Hints Again At How Brutal It’s Gonna Be
Quentin Tarantino (or QT, as I like to call him and how he said he should refer to me when I ran into him at the Hollywood Arclight back when he was bored and hung out in the cafeteria to see who would notice he was there) is coming out with his next film, a brutal slavesploitation (I don’t know, leave me alone) revenge flick.
Q likes revenge. And the trailer below expertly hides the brutal violence, but if you’ve seen enough of Tarantino, you’ll know just how messed up this one is going to be.
I can’t really complain about the cast, either, though initially Will Smith was supposed to take the job and bowed out, which will once again be a mistake on the creative side. He so desperately wants an Oscar that he doesn’t see potential staring him in the face.
Question: What movies are you looking forward to? What Oscar bait do you think is worth the time?
