Some people are okay with their fame fading into the past, while others can’t quite let things go and go on with a dance.
Joanna Cassidy starred in Blade Runner as the character of Zhora. Initially in the script, it was written for her to do a sexy snake dance. The scene was never filmed and for some reason 31 years later, Cassidy decided to recreate the scene in what looks like someone’s hallway outside their bedroom.
Cassidy was apparently supported by the clip’s Director who “believed in her”. It appears she hired a crew to film the recreation, including a make-up artist who attempted to mimic the look Cassidy was given before the scene was cut. Sadly it just looks like several jewels pasted to her face. The make up itself is heavy, with dark shadows under her cheekbones for dramatic effect.
The video goes on for an uncomfortable five minutes and seventeen seconds. Age seems to have taken a toll on Cassidy, whose physical movements while smooth are very Bela Lugosi–Dracula–esque.
Honestly the whole things reminds me of Sunset Blvd., and that Cassidy is telling Ridley Scott that she’s ready for her close-up.
Does this video creep you out as much as it did me?
